What's New?
APSP Pool & Spa Safety Week
May 31st -June 6, 2008
What’s the best way to make sure you have a great experience using swimming pools and spas this summer? Make safety your number one priority!
May 31 through June 6 is APSP Pool and Spa Safety Week, brought to you by the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals.
APSP would like to remind you to check off a few items on your pool safety list:
First, make sure that all drains are protected by an approved cover. Then make sure you’ve got layers of protection around your pool or spa, including, fencing, safety covers, alarms, rope and float lines, rescue equipment, and access to CPR and emergency information and an outside phone.
Most importantly, make sure that there is adult supervision with an eye on the kids, whenever children are in or around the pool.
For more information visit www.APSP.org or ask one of our Mermaid Employees!
Have a safe and wonderful summer!!

Mermaid & BioGuard To “Splash for CF”
With Your Help
In October we met an amazing 14 year old, Emily Schreiber. She is the inspiration for BioGuard’s nationwide call to action to combat the genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis. At age 9 she was diagnosed with CF. An avid swimmer, Emily began raising money by collecting pledges for each lap that she swam. In her six years of events and fundraising her efforts have grossed over $1 million.
Now you, Indiana, have a chance to join the cause. Over the next year there will be many opportunities to participate. Swim clubs, teams, CF families, YMCA’s and all swimming enthusiasts will be invited to join the fun.
60% of the money raised in each locale will go to a local care center/hospital for CF support- the remainder will go to the Laps for CF Foundation
® for distribution to additional CF causes it supports, such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
As our own Mermaid family was touched by CF, we are especially proud to participate. We want to make a difference and we hope you will join us
. Send us your ideas how you can help– home swim parties, school events, cookouts. Let’s make this one great year for Emily and all the families affected by Cystic Fibrosis. Your first opportunity to help will come during our February Early Buy Sale.
A portion of every sale of Silk Tabs and Sticks, Smart Sticks and Pool Pods will go to Emily’s nonprofit organization, Laps for CF Foundation. Check her website:
www.lapsforcf.org
.
Thank you in advance from all of us. Together, Mermaid (in Anderson & Muncie), BioGuard and you—we’ll fight CF one splash at a time.
